Nick Mitchell and Eddie Bonilla, “From Third World Strike to Abolition University”
On November 8, the IMWG here at Berkeley will be hosting a launch event for the new, UC-wide Marxist Institute for Research. The launch – “From Third World Strike to Abolition University: 1969 and Now” – will feature Nick Mitchell (UCSC) and Eddie Bonilla (Boston College) in conversation with UCB’s own Colleen Lye. Nick and Eddie will first say a bit about their upcoming books, as a way into a broader dialogue on university struggles, third world Marxisms, and how we got here. It should be celebratory and engaging – and timely, if we are headed toward a UAW strike at the UC.
You can register for the zoom – happening at 5pm on 11/8 – here: https://bit.ly/mirlaunch. And, if you’re in the Bay, please join us for a (real, live) reception at Beta Lounge (2129 Durant, in Berkeley) at 7:30, following the event: there will be a limited supply of free drink (and snacks) to be had there.
