“What is Asian American & Asian Diaspora Studies?” Panel Discussion on Sunday, April 25th, from 1 – 2 PM.

During this live session, a panel of current Asian American & Asian Diaspora Studies students will answer your questions about life as an AAADS major / minor! AAADS continuing faculty member, Professor Lisa Tsuchitani, will moderate this discussion.

Panelists will include:

Hannah Chea (she/her) is a Khmer Teochew-Chinese second generation third year student majoring in Data Science and minoring in Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies. In addition to doing Southeast Asian-American recruitment & retention work on campus, she also plays mellophone for UC Berkeley’s marching band.

Jessica Cheng (she/her) is a Teochew-Chinese first generation college student, child of refugees, double majoring in English and Asian American & Asian Diaspora Studies and minoring in Education. She aspires to teach ethnic studies at the K-12 level.

Elijah Chhum (he/they) is a First Gen, Reentry, Khmer queer child of genocide survivors who loves to organize in mental health spaces and uplift the protective factors within the Khmer diaspora. 

Gunho Moon is a 1.5 generation Korean American student majoring in Asian American Diaspora Studies. He is currently in the pre-med track and is aspiring to be a medical surgeon.

Vien Yen Ho Pham (she/her) is a Vietnamese-American, first generation student studying Molecular and Cellular Biology. She is currently active on menstrual equity efforts on campus.

Anh-Vy Phan (she/they/he) is a genderfluid, first generation college student of Vietnamese descent, double majoring in Political Science and Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies as well as minoring in Korean Language and Culture. They are aspiring to be an immigration and human rights attorney to assist BIPOC, low-income refugees and undocumented folks. 

Phibi Tran (they/them) is a queer non-binary Vietnamese student double majoring in Cognitive Science & Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies while doing community organizing in the Bay Area with queer and transgender API organizations.
