Japanese American Speaker Series: John Tateishi
John Tateishi will be speaking tomorrow on his involvement in the Japanese American Citizen’s League (JACL) redress campaign and the eventual signing of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988.
As the JACL National Executive Director, he also served as an important national voice challenging the Bush administration’s policies that targeted Arab and Muslim communities and undermined the civil liberties of all Americans.
He is the author of And Justice for All, an oral history about the WWII incarceration, and a contributing author of Last Witnesses, a collection of personal essays about the camp experience. Among his recognitions, he is the 2007 recipient of the Spendlove Prize on Social Justice.
The event will take place this Thursday, October 23rd in 554 Barrows from 3-5 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend!
